Story

Do What You Gotta Do--Rosler, Ward

(bonejockeys version, originally from the Off Broadway play at Irish Arts Center “Brothers of the Brush”  & “Lost on The B Side” commission)

Haven’t seen much of my family of late

Last church I was in I was hired to paint

Maybe this scaffold will reach heaven’s gate

But till then mates, oh well fuck it

     Do what you gotta do

Just see that it gets done

     Do what you gotta do

That’s the way this operations run

Now sometimes these breaks are a dangerous thing

A coffee a smoke/fag and a time for a think

Called up to the roof and your soul starts to sink

Gonna freeze me ass today

     Do what you gotta do

Just see that it gets done

     Do what you gotta do

That’s the way this operations run

          come on boys heave ho

this ain’t no dance you know

I said this ain’t no dance you know!!

Those could’ve been the first words I heard said

So I parted the womb and stuck out me head

There my mother was screaming and turning all red

And the foreman shouted out…

      (chorus)
